Two years ago, I dressed up as Rachel Zoe for Halloween. Faux fur vest, sunnies, lots of jewels, and starbucks. And yes–a wig, too. Most people thought I was an Olsen twin. I want to do something that will top RZ, but am completely out of ideas. Something fun that won't cost a fortune to put together and it can't be too typical. Easy enough, yes? Help!

Are you dressing up this year? Most important–any great ideas for me?

  1. BAHAHAHAH! You make the PERFECT Rachel Zoe! I think the best costumes are ones that embrace your inner child. This year and last I'm finally masquerading as a Starfleet officer to showcase my love of Star Trek! Think of your favorite childhood heroes: princesses, superheroines, cartoon or literary characters, etc. If you have trouble coming up with ideas, I'd suggest something that expresses your love of fashion and culture. I personally, would LOVE to see you costumed as a flapper! With your short hair and eye for stunning style, I'm sure you could find a gorgeous knee- or thigh-length fringe-y dress to pair with pearls (real or faux), some dark eye makeup and vampy lipstick! A feathery boa and opera length gloves would be inexpensive, easy to find accessories, too! And it's CLASSIC, so you could definitely wear it again!

  5. you look good as a blonde!

get a 50 year old guy and you could repurpose the costume actually as an Olsen twin this year....

  6. I. love. this costume! I wish I had an idea for you for this year but I've just been awful at thinking up good Halloween costumes lately! Last year I branstormed for months and didn't think of anything until the night of the Halloween party. Ridiculous, I know. I hope we both think of great costumes soon!

  8. LOVE it - that costume is spot-on! I am planning do dress up as Jess from New Girl (aka basically just Zooey); she wears so much J.Crew on the show that I don't even need to buy anything (aside from some fake bangs)!

  9. My favorite costumes are the ones where the person clearly doesn't care whether they look cool/hot/sexy/etc. and just has a lot of fun. Some ideas for costumes that you might already have some pieces for in your closet: Rosie the Riveter, Mary Poppins, Lucy (of I Love Lucy), Cruella De Vil, Holly Golightly (or Audrey Hepburn herself), Duchess Catherine. I really wanted to be Miss Frizzle from The Magic School Bus this year, but I haven't found a dress and I'm running out of time. :(

I'm sure you've already done this, but Pinterest has loads of great ideas.

  10. What a great RZ costume! I love the idea of dressing up as something current event related. Last year (maybe the year before?) my friend went as OctoMom and hung eight little baby dolls from a big black maxi skirt. It was creepy and weird, but hilarious and everyone's favorite costume that night. Unfortunately I am not so savvy on the current events, but I'm sure you'll come up with something great!

  11. LOL you do kinda look like an Olsen twin! Great costume :) I'm kind of out of good ideas for halloween too...ugh. My best was being the siamese cats from Lady and the Tramp with one of my best friends - that was definitely my favorite, although I have 2 others that I came up with that were fun too. I really want to do something cool this year!

  12. Love the blonde wig. Hm. Lindsey Lohan? I'm trying to think of something outrageous...we're going to be in Paris. So I'm just going to pretend I'm a parisian, dress well, smoke and drink coffee all day. Haha.

  14. I'm being Holly Golightly this year and, since I'm going out three time, I'm going to be a fairy on one of the other nights.

  15. I'm going old school & being Dorothy (Wizard of Oz) this year... although, I'm going against several of my friends' suggestions of being one of the Middleton sisters. Maybe next year.
