It's been a LONG time

...since I've had long hair. While going through old photos last night, I realized how much I miss having some length. My hair is currently about halfway between my pixie and shoulders right now. It grew to where it is now in about 5 months.

Photo taken Sept '09.

Would you ever cut all your hair off?

  1. You are braver than me... I don't think I could do it. {it short looks good on you!} But then again, it's taken almost 4 years for my hair to get where it is now, it grows so slowly!

  2. My hair is incredibly long actually - about one and a half feet long. I honestly can't bring myself to cut it!
By the way, this photograph is so cute!

  3. I chopped my hair off 10 years ago (after growing it out for an ex). I thought about growing it out for my wedding 3 years ago, but I didn't have the patience. Now I'm rocking a pixie and love it.

  4. You are much braver than me, and can rock a pixie cut better than anyone I know!

  5. I donated a foot of my hair freshman year of college and wow did I miss it once it was gone! You can rock a short 'do, but I? Definitely could not. Long locks for life!

  6. Yep! I went from having hair down past my shoulders and I cut it all off 2 or 3 years ago...I love it but it is a lot harder to keep up with!

  7. I did when I was 15. I got a very short pixie cut. It wasn't the best look for me as I look much better with long hair but at the time I felt very cool and daring.

  8. i cut ALL of my hair off into a tiny pixie almost exactly a year ago! i've gotten it trimmed a couple times but now i'm letting it grow out. it's a short bob right now, but i can't wait for it to be long again!

  9. I think of hair the way I think of paint--you can always repaint, and hair grows (or can get cut shorter!). I like to experiment :) Although I will say, I've had pretty short hair before, but one time I chopped it alllllll off to donate and had a minor identity crisis haha

  10. I DID cut all my hair off! I now have an A-line bob, which I've donned since Summer 2008, but before that I had hair to my mid back. BIG change... Here's a post I did on getting my "signature cut."

Love your blog! Been following for over a year :-)

  12. I had short hair for most of my life, but in the past 5 years or so have grown it out long. I'm always contemplating going real short again. It is always so fun to make such a drastic change!

  13. Not everyone can pull off short hair, but you do Danielle, it looks really good on you ;)

  14. You are adorable either way!

When we met on a few weeks ago, I had just gotten about 5 inches off my hair and it's still just below my shoulders. That is shorter than I wanted to go and the shortest I will ever go. My hair is too thick and curly so any shorter makes me look like a poodle. I would love a short bob if I had thinner, straight hair. Sigh...

  15. I used to have no qualms about chopping off my hair back when I was in college. I've gone through just about every length of hair possible (with the exception of being bald!). Honestly, I think a lot of women often look better with shorter hair. Your facial features and neck are more accentuated and exposed. And there's more bounce to your hair. I loved your hair fair short and I love the length it is now. Enjoy this period and when you no longer have the "short hair", you will actually (I think) from time to time kinda miss having that very stylish short do!!

  16. Yes! I actually just cut my hair, 2 weeks ago! I cut about 3 inches, so that I could ser my natural curls. It has definitely been a test of my patience, but easy and fun!

  17. You look great with long hair! It's cute short though too. How nice to have a choice! Short cuts aren't flattering on me (and that's not just my own opinion :)

  18. I pride myself with my long hair, so I don't think I could ever chop it off! But my face shape is all wrong for short hair anyway, whereas you definitely suit it! x

  19. Last summer, my son wanted to get a mohawk in the worst way. But needed that one last little push to take the leap. I told him if they measured my hair and I had enough to donate, I would chop my hair off if he got the mohawk. I did, and they did. Nine inches. I did it in a spontaneous move, and have mourned its loss every day since. Although I took the leap with my son, I have been growing it back ever since. I never wanted my hair to become my identity, and didn't realize how much of my identity was wrapped up in it until I cut it all off.

  20. oh man, i get bored every few months and just want to chop it all off. i've finally grown it to a place where it's longer than it's been in five years or so, and i figure i can't give up now. i want to be able to get that top knot just right, and do some fun sarah jessica parker-esque hairstyles, and it needs to be longer! but i've been dreaming about what my next short cut will be. might even add a fun dyed streak! haha! who knows!
