Happy Monday! Hope you all had a
lovely weekend. I did lots of organizing and packing, went to CrossFit, ran errands, and spent some time with
Anne. Buddy even squeezed in a playdate with
Gina and his new girlfriend Minnie. My living room and bedroom have been painted and I chose paint for the hall and living room. I am starting to really love my new place! I can't believe I move this week! I still have so much packing to do.
I need to order a dining table and four chairs ASAP and I don't know what I want. Everything is so expensive and while I've found some budget friendly options, I am feeling stuck. Wishbone chairs? Bentwood chairs? The only table I am seeing that I like is a pedestal table. Black or white? Leaning toward black but as you know...
I love all things white.
The table I love is a larger version of the one on the left.

All the pictures are gorgeous, but I really love the second one! xo
ReplyDeletei love the navy dining room. i am a sucker for pedestal dining tables. there is a cute white one at ikea (liatorp) for $250.
ReplyDeleteTo be honest with you, I see tables like that alllll the time on Craigslist (usually in a gross wood stain). If you have the time/space to refinish one, you could get it for suuuuuper cheap...thus leaving more money to splurge elsewhere :) I've used Citristrip indoors before (make sure you put down an old towel and open your windows!) and it worked really well...or just sand and paint!
ReplyDeleteI like the one you've chosen (bigger version of the bottom left). I think black could be fun. Even if you do love all things white. :)
ReplyDeleteI went through the same struggle when I moved last year, especially because I am so partial to all things white! I ended up ordering this (budget friendly) table and am really happy with it. Plus, I figured if I move to a bigger space I can always upgrade to a larger table and use this as a demi-lune with one leaf down!

I found four vintage cane-backed chairs and repainted/re-covered them, and I think it looks great together!
Love the ideas you have pulled together. I agree with Meghan- there are lots of great options on Craigslist, vintage markets, etc. if you are willing to give it a little makeover. If not, I really do love the pedestal table you are already crushing on! :)
ReplyDeletePedestal tables are so lovely. I have no idea what a good price is for a quality dining table but I found a couple that I think are reasonably priced. Good luck!

Love the table! I would check craigslist for chairs...I found 4 amazing chairs for $100 total, and transformed them for less than $30 (so total $130 for 4 chairs!). They kind of remind me of the chairs in your pedestal table photo. You can check them out here:

And I went with a West Elm parsons table...but it's not a pedestal like you were looking for.

I love white as well (obviously)...but anything you choose will look great!!

Ours is like the one you've shown at the bottom left, just larger. It's a very dark wood from Pottery Barn. I love it!
ReplyDeleteAre you a craigsilst person? sometimes, you can find some amazing finds!

I can't wait to see how you decorate - you have the best style!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog!
ReplyDeleteI love the chairs in the 5th picture down.
Love your interior design and might have to borrow some ideas when we move into our townhouse in the next couple months. We need a new dining room table and chairs too and it's going to be interesting trying to find something within our budget. I'm thinking about putting a bench seat on one side - find it so inviting.
Perhaps you're looking for something a little more high end but I have found Ikea have some great clean white tables which although are cheap can look really great when put in the right space and with the right accessories. If you start with something basic you can really make it what you want, and if you then find something better later on it wont be the end of the world. Good luck on finding one, I'm sure you'll find the perfect one.
ReplyDeleteIf you are looking for a pedestal table, Craigslist is the place (and spray paint is your new best fried). On the seating front, Dwell just put together this roundup of "affordable" chairs, lots of which have a modern feel that could be a fun mix with a more traditional table: http://www.dwell.com/articles/the-cheap-seats.html
ReplyDeleteHappy moving!

craigslist is your friend. i bet you can find something similar there for pennies (and maybe paint it)!
ReplyDeleteHow fun! I just posted a pic of the beginning stages of our new dining room. I have had the dining set for 5 years now. If I had to do it all over, I would get a picnic bench table, with long benchs. Would give such a relaxing atmospere for company.
