I'm with Steve

Steve Madden is on it right now and apparently -- so am I. I have been all about sales/deals this past week and found another one that I just had to share with you! I recently posted Tory Burch Eddie flats with the big sparkly bow. Turns out that there is a Steve Madden version for under $80. So glad I decided to return the TB version. These are much more everygirl friendly. Enter the code present25 to receive 25% off your order!

Happy New Year!

a new year

2011 has come and gone & what a year it's been. I started + ended the year in Chicago, became a vegetarian [again], changed the name of my business, booked a few photo shoots, made some wonderful new friends, discovered a love of sparkly nail polish, finally had my entry painted [I will share photos of my apartment next month -- promise!], traveled to New York and am in the process of launching a new website with Alaina. The last part of that sentence makes me so unbelievably happy + still feels a little surreal.

I am sure most of you can relate to this, but I struggled with where I want my career and life to go this past year. I know I haven't really mentioned this, but I have been in a long distance relationship for an entire year now. It isn't easy but is definitely worth it. Other than that, I would obviously love to see The Everygirl become my full time job this year, and more than anything want it to inspire all of you! Do you have any goals for the new year?

For anyone who might be interested, here are my recaps for 2009 + 2010

Wishing you all the very best in the new year! Your support & friendship mean so much to me. I hope you know how thankful I am for each & every one of you. xx

Christmas in Chicago

My second Christmas in Chicago has come and gone. It may not have been a white Christmas, but famous Buddy was featured on People magazine's website and nothing could ever beat that. I always knew my pup was handsome & perfect. This validates all of those feelings.

My cozy little apartment has been very festive for Christmas with Santa there to greet you as you walk in. The Burberry ornament is a favorite of mine and I love that my wrapping paper had a touch of pink & sparkle.

Lots of delicious carbs. Gingerbread man shaped pumpkin bread, Lesley's Mexican wontons [you can see that the top two were made without meat for me], Trader Joe's appetizers and a delicious Christmas dinner followed by candy cane ice cream. Lots & lots of lounging around with the boys watching Christmas movies in my new Christmas pajamas.

I received some lovely gifts including the Bobbi Brown party palette  and a sparkly pink ornament. Pink & sparkles.

Did a little shopping on Monday where I picked up some gorgeous Ralph Lauren boots 70% off & a chunky Vince sweater 50% off. I love a good sale! I also finally found the gold dot Kate Spade iPhone cover.

Thank you all for the comments on this post! Loved getting to know you. Photo shoot this morning followed some graphic design work & an afternoon of working on The Everygirl with Alaina. I cannot believe that we launch in Feb! It is just around the corner.

'Twas a wonderful Christmas. Hope your holiday was Merry & Bright!

YES, that's my dog on PEOPLE MAGAZINE'S website.

Imagine my surprise when Heather told me she saw a photo of Buddy on her People app this morning! A BIG thank you to Victoria for telling me to enter Buddy's photo! I never would have entered if it wasn't for her. I love my sweet, handsome and perfect little pup -- and am obviously not the only one. Someone needs his own Facebook fan page.

 Best. Christmas. Ever.

White Christmas

I'll be having my own little Christmas in Chicago with the boyfriend. We plan on cooking, baking & watching lots of Christmas movies. No snow in the forecast, but we'll be dreaming of a white Christmas.

If you are a reader of my blog, I would love it if you would leave a comment telling me a little bit about you. What's your favorite Christmas song/movie? Your favorite Christmas tradition? Do you have a blog? I would love to get to know you. After all, it is Christmas time. Makes me want to bake and be merry.

It also makes me wish for a little bit of this...

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas!

What can I say? I love gold.

The Everygirl is on Pinterest!

The Everygirl is now on pinterest and we have shared the full size images from our teaser! My inner Monica Gellar loves organizing everything I love by category on perfect little pin boards. Be sure to "Follow All" so that you know when new boards go up don't forget that we are on Twitter & Facebook as well!

We spent some time with Ashlina while we were in NYC.

A peek at my place, although it looks pretty different now!

I also want to take a moment to thank each and every one of you who has emailed, blogged, tweeted and left comments showing your support and excitement over the upcoming launch of The Everygirl. As I have mentioned, this was something I dreamed of for over a year so to see it come together and then share it with all of you has been nothing short of a dream. I have never worked so hard in my entire life and have never felt more excited or passionate about anything.

So, from the bottom of my heart...thank you!

PS. Holiday party was a success! Posted lots of photos on Instagram & Twitter.

Santa Claus is comin' to my Christmas party.

Last Friday, I woke up and realized that I needed to plan a holiday party. I consulted with my friend and business partner to make sure we had time. No. Lots of work to do and not enough notice for a party. So -- I sent an email to a few friends and Alaina was the first to RSVP. I love that girl.

And a little Christmas party inspiration for you! I am already halfway through my 2nd RL candle of the season, have an obsession with tartan plaid and the gold candle from Crate and Barrel has been a favorite this season as well.

1. Ralph Lauren holiday votive set
2. Color banded dessert plates
3. Kate Spade Larrabee dot old fashioneds
4. Tartan plaid towels
5. Banded glassware
6. Crate and Barrel gold ball candle
7. Peppermint bark
8. Pottery Barn snow currant candles

Tonight, a few girlfriends will stop by for cranberry margaritas, baked brie and some other delicious goodies. Liz is coming over early to do a little work & bake cookies. I'm excited! It wouldn't be Christmas without a little get together.

And the best part of this evening? My super handsome co-host who will show up dressed as Santa. Yes -- I'm sharing the Buddy dressed as Santa photo again. Can you blame me?

I love Christmas time. Don't you?

shimmer + sparkle

I have a few of Bobbi's shimmer bricks and this one on my Christmas list. Loving Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in Boy & Rebelle [for a pop of color] and have been all about this sparkly polish set from Sephora.

I redesigned my blog and website this weekend. Would love to know what you think!

What are your favorite shimmery & sparkly beauty products?

In case you missed it, Alaina and I announced the upcoming launch of The Everygirl this week. As always, we will be working together this weekend & since the word is out we may share a few sneak peeks with you! I hope you will follow us on Twitter & Facebook for updates! While you're at it, visit The Everygirl to subscribe to our newsletter!

Thank you all again for your excitement! Can't wait for Feb 2012!
Have a wonderful weekend!

I've got a story for you.

On 12.16.08 I walked past an animal adoption drive.
There was a sad little rescue pup with a broken leg.
He looked at me.
We all know how this one ends.

Buddy really loves blankets.
He also enjoys sleeping in until noon.

And lounging around in his Santa suit.
I know I posted a Buddy as Santa photo yesterday, but his face & ears kill me in this one.
And seeing my dog dressed as Santa makes me ridiculously happy.

As does seeing him in his celebratory tartan plaid tie. Classy little guy.
Buddy has come a long way. This was taken with my iPhone the very first time I saw my pup. If you saw Buddy cheerfully running down the hall with this round little Santa belly you'd never think he used to look so sad.

If you are considering getting a dog and have any questions about adopting a rescue, please email me!

Happy 3 years to my little B.

from me to you

Thank you to everyone who has visited The Everygirl! Your comments, tweets & emails have meant so much to me. We will be posting updates and sneak peeks on twitter & facebook until the launch in Feb and hope you'll follow us!

I would like to thank you with this photo of Buddy dressed as Santa Claus. A budget friendly and handsome gift.

I know -- you love his face & his Christmas spirit.
You're welcome.

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas & the very best in 2012. I realize that not everyone celebrates Christmas, so whatever you celebrate -- I hope your day is merry + bright.

+ Buddy the Elf [dressed as Santa]

Big Announcement! Introducing The Everygirl, launching Feb 2012!

I am so excited to announce the upcoming launch of The Everygirl, the newest online resource helping shape creative, career-driven women.

I have spent the past four months working on The Everygirl with my good friend and co-founder Alaina Kaczmarski of Live Creating Yourself. There have been endless late night meetings and we have spent our weekends photographing features [she styles, I shoot]. So now you know why we have been spending so much time together and what we were up to in New York.

The Everygirl will ask the questions no one else asks. So whether it's an interview with the girl who started her own business, the girl who packed up and moved across the country looking to experience something new or the girl who pieced together her wardrobe without going into debt we'll look at the steps they took to make it happen and what advice they have for others looking to do something similar.

You can also expect to find features on decor, finance, career, entertaining and more! We are working with business consultants, financial advisors and stylists to bring you stories that are inspiring, accessible and budget friendly. After all, this site is for you --the everygirl.

Since you may be wondering what The Everygirl is, I just want to clarify that it is not an online magazine. While we love online magazines, we realized that this was not the ideal platform for the content that we will be sharing with our readers. Being the super creative and fancy graphic designers that we are, we came up with something new for you.

I have wanted to do this for well over a year, so to see it come together and to be able to share this with all of you is a dream come true! The support we have received so far has been wonderful and I am so thankful that Alaina agreed to join me on this journey. I could not have done this with anyone else.

Sign up for our newsletter on our website and follow us on Twitter and Facebook for updates & sneak peeks until we launch in February!

Hey. I tried.

If you receive a Christmas card from me this year, consider reading it upside down. My beautiful "peace on earth" stamp was upside down on almost half of my cards before I realized what I was doing.

Next year, I'm ordering this idiot proof snowflake.

This is what I get for trying to add a fancy finishing touch to my holiday cards.

If you shop at J.Crew, please take a moment to read this post!

I have a feeling it's going to be a fantastic week! Happy Monday!

scenes from my weekend

Saturday consisted of a lazy morning with the pup, trip to the tree lot with my friend Jason, decorating the tree, and my first holiday party of the season! On Sunday I did some shopping on Michigan Avenue followed by lattes + work with Alaina and 2 gingerbread pancakes for dinner. Sometimes a girl just needs some carbs.

Currently watching Once Upon a Time next to a very sparkly Christmas tree. Ralph Lauren holiday candle is burning, I'm under a faux fur blanket and have a sweet little pup next to me. Too bad snowflakes aren't falling right now. Yes -- I just wished for snow. Remind me of that when I start complaining in Jan/Feb. Going to enjoy another hour of relaxing before I clean up and prepare for yet another week to begin.

How was your weekend?

classy little man

Handsome Buddy in his handsome bed from Harry Barker.
He sleeps on a leopard print bed, snuggles up to a faux fur throw & wears a herringbone coat.
I love him.

Jayson Home & Garden is one of my favorite places in Chicago + is offering free shipping on orders over $75.

Do you stick to a color scheme when decking your halls?
