A week of thanks. Lara, Victoria + Audrey.

Today I am featuring Lara of Simply Irresistible, Victoria of Vmac and Cheese and Audrey of A Lovely Escape!

Lara loves her mom's stuffing. photo via

Lara is an amazing cook so if she loves this stuffing, it is probably amazing.
2 loaves white stuffing bread
1 teaspoon salt
freshly ground pepper to taste
2 cups of celery with leaves, diced
1 large onion, diced
1 tablespoon bell poultry seasoning
2 sticks of butter
1 cup milk

Break apart bread. Leave in a bowl over night to get stale. Melt
butter. Cook vegetables in butter until soft. Add seasonings and cool.
Toss with milk and bread just before using to stuff the turkey.

My family fills out a Thanksgiving book each year. We jot down the menu, who attended, and any exciting family news. We then pass around the book all day and each person spends some time writing what they are thankful for. It's been about 20+ years in the making and it's so fun to look back at past entries.

1. I'm thankful that I get to marry my best friend in six months...and plan a big party to celebrate!
2. I'm thankful for all of the amazing opportunities and friends that blogging has brought into my life
3. I'm thankful to have the most supportive parents, ever.

Victoria loves butternut squash gratin & cornish game hens with lemon and sage. photo via

I have two. Every year, I make baked spinach and artichoke dip as an "appetizer" to eat while everything else cooks. And I ALWAYS make a big batch of oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. I much prefer homemade ice cream sandwiches made with these over any pie!

1. For my family and friends and all the love and support they give me
2. Having a job in a down economy
3. Honestly, my blog. It's a creative outlet I could not live without!

Audrey loves her grandma's apple pie, but this year she is planning on making this apple crisp.

Every year my family plays a little game of football before eating a big Thanksgiving dinner. After the game every one gets an award - Best Catch, Best Touchdown Dance, MVP, Biggest Improvement, etc. One year I received "Best Run" but usually I get "Best Dressed" ;)

Aside from the obvious of friends, my boyfriend and family, I'm thankful...
1. That the holidays offer up lots of chances to wear dresses like this lacy LBD and festive red lipstick.
2. For my puppy Walter. Nothing beats coming home from a long day at work to this excited little man.
3. For our new faux fur throw. Chicago winters call for the warm blankets just like this one and I plan on cozying up under it with hot cider and my pup just about every weekend.

What is your favorite Thanksgiving tradition?

I agree with Alex. It is such a great time of year to reflect back on what makes us happy.

Thanks for having me hear today dear! And yes, the stuffing is to die for (it does call for 2 sticks of butter, but Thanksgiving is for indulging, right!?). We like to eat in on bagels in the morning - not kidding.

Love reading these. I think I might have to copy some of these tradition ideas! No time like the present ;)

I love this series. It pretty much captures all of the reasons why the holidays make you feel warm and happy inside! Most of our traditions involve food, but several new ones that have been started in the past few years are: an annual T-giving hike, and a blind wine taste test. What can I say we like our vino! xo

aw I love this so much. I love how Lara's family fills a thanksgiving book. That is so creative! Wish I had a cool tradition like that. But I must say, my mom's cooking is amazing, and nothing beats the smell of the house on Thanksgiving :)
