Girls who inspire // Alex of Things That Sparkle

Today I am excited to feature one of my favorite bloggers, Alex of Things That Sparkle. She is a fellow Chicago blogger who loves sparkly things. We were destined to be friends. She is very creative and is so sweet. Enjoy!

name & age:
Alex, 25

hometown:
Burbs of Chicago

current home:
City of Chicago

meaning behind my blog name:
Honestly, I just really love things that sparkle. Everything that sparkles.

current job:
I just opened a design firm, Alexandra Berlin Design, but I am also preparing to graduate design school in the fall.

dream job:
Never thought I would say this... but I have it!

if i could travel anywhere...:
Bora Bora, Istanbul, Greek islands, Thailand, Prague, Cap Ferrat, Mustique (this is a never ending list)

<something unique about me:
I never learned how to ride a bike... OOPS!

i like to:
Design, blog, be lazy with my fiance eat, swim with my puppy-son, sit on the roof, drink champagne, entertain, and travel

i watch:
any and all reality tv and Gossip Girl (still)

listening to:
nothing in the world is better than Van Morrison, nothing.

crushing on:
Perfectly completed and perfected homes, cannot wait for mine to be!

5 things that inspire me: my fiance, my work, my blog, my family and traveling

favorite nail polish: For winter, Essie Wicked. For summer Essie Fiji

favorite perfume: Also seasonal for me. For winter, Michael Kors, for summer Kate Spade, Twirl

who or what inspires your style?
So many people/things! Rachel Bilson and Olivia Palermo are my all time favorite fashion ladies. For interiors, I've never been more inspired as am I by my fellow bloggers. Seriously. Wow.

two pieces of furniture you would purchase today {money is no object}:
A new sofa (not only would money need to be no object, but so would dog fur...) and a crazy patterned upholstered headboard.

dream kitchen: White, gold and marbley goodness.

favorite thing about chicago:
SUMMER, no question. Is there anything better than being out on a boat in the summer in Chicago?

favorite places to purchase furniture/accessories for the home:
In Chicago, Jayson Home & Garden.

something you think every home should have:
Pictures, fresh flowers, and a dog. No home is really a home without a pup.

What do you most enjoy about wedding planning:
I have a really clear vision of what I want for my wedding, so the most fun has been imaging it all coming together. We have more than a year until the wedding but I am already antsy!
