Concert in the park.

I had plans to watch Weeds + The Big C with Sarah on Monday until she called to see if I would be up for going to a concert in Millennium Park instead. Sit inside + watch TV or spend a perfect summer night outside at a free concert?

Great music, the best people watching {group of people in front of us were doing some crazy acrobatic stunts} + we sat outside with our drinks and snacks, talking and enjoying the gorgeous weather.

Lots of navy stripes.

A little blurry, but I still love it.

My drink of choice. And my havaiana flops.

You know I love the bean.

had to convert to b&w. the color + quality weren't so great
...but I love it anyway.

This was very last minute so I just had time to grab a towel, drinks and slice some cucumber + strawberries. I'd like to do something a little nicer next time. Maybe plan picnic? Have to get outside while we can!

What would you put in your picnic basket?
I love summer in Chicago.

  5. Have you ever been to Ravinia? We go there a couple times each summer and its so fun for music, people watching and snacks. The first time we went we weren't nearly prepared but now we bring enough drinks, food, blankets, chairs, for a 2 days campout :)

Such a fun way to spend a summer night.

  8. Such a fun eve:) I'm so glad we did that!!! And you always take the most beautiful pics, even of a simple little snack scene on a blanket. Can't wait for more fun activities and next time, we'll pack up some of those picnic treats above. xoxo

  9. Looks almost as relaxing as watching TV. BTW, I'm thisclose to writing off Weeds. Lucky it's their last season or else I wouldn't be able to take it.

Speaking of Chicago...any plans to do a "top Chicago" list before Aug. 18 pretty please?!

  11. For some reason I just can't get into it. I guess I'm starting to think the entire thing is so overdone. Then again, I watch True Blood so who am I to talk. But I do plan on finishing the series. I'm not a quitter.

  14. We saw Iron and Wine at Millennium Park earlier this summer and it was fabulous! Sometimes spur of the moment ideas are the best!! But, I do love our little C&B picnic table and it comes in handy for Millennium Park, movies in the park, and Ravinia!

  16. Oh what a fun time! It's been scalding hot here so anything outside is just unthinkable. But as long as I have an ice cold drink and something crunchy {yea, I'm weird} my basket would be complete!

  17. One of the best concerts I've ever been to was The Decemberists at Millennium Park. It was right before I left Chicago and that night was the first time I questioned whether I made the right choice in moving away. (I did, but concert in the park gave me doubts!)

  21. This looks like such an amazing way to spend your day. I haven't been on a "real" picnic in ages. The picture of the bean in great. As for the quick pops, oh I don't know...I only had 4 popsicles a day for the past few days!
