Top 10

I usually write my top 10's on Sunday, but had such a busy day yesterday that I couldn't find the time. I ran a few errands and met up with my sister. We went to Whole Foods {for the salad bar and some pumpkins} and to a craft shop. Then, I went to yoga. I was 30 min late and did not realize it until I put my mat down {mortifying} and at that point, it would have been more of a disruption if I walked out. After yoga, my sis and I did some crafts, and then I worked on my new kit, watched Housewives & Brothers and Sisters, and went to bed.

So there you have it.

And here is my top 10.

10. I have a little fall cheer going on in my room. Ignore the horrible lighting.

9. New scrapbook kit.

8. I love my DVR. I am about to watch Gossip Girl and Dexter.

7. I love this girl. We had a great talk tonight.

6. I had dinner with my friend Sheila on Saturday night. I hadn't seen her in a really long time {like 6-8 months!}. It was so nice to be able to catch up with her. Can you believe we've been friends for about 20 years?!

I do know that I am getting old.

Update. I was way off. Sheila told me the trip was in 07. I really am getting old.

5. My cats are amazing.

I have never seen two cats become such good friends so quickly. The two of them are good pals with the pup, too. It's pretty amazing.

4. I discovered the amazingness of SKII this weekend. My sis and I both purchased their air touch foundation. It is seriously incredible. We both had a skin analysis done, and it turns out my skin is above average, but that it's very very dry. I'm talking literally NO oil on my face dry. After just a day of using SKII's essence, I can feel the moisture in my skin. It wasn't cheap, but I never splurge on makeup/face products, but this is my face we're talking about, here. Figure I should take care of it. Maybe it'll even save me the cost of a few botox injections some day ;)

I found a video so you can see how amazing the foundation is. You can't feel it and my skin tone looks so great when I wear it!



3. My sis {who lives for celeb gossip} showed this to me yesterday. While I am obviously not a reader of this magazine, I do think this is really funny:

2. Little People Big World is back. Not my favorite show, but I still like it.

1. I am still going to yoga classes, and have found that at the end of class I am actually able to relax. I can sit in the quiet and not have anything on my mind {which usually goes at 25,638 miles per minute}. I'm not actually any good at it yet, but learning to relax is a huge step for me.

It's 10:00 and I am getting off the computer to go watch GG and Dexter {if I can stay up that long}. I am really tired! Goodnight!

The Top 10

What a week. Here it goes...

10. Next month, I am heading to Tennessee, Illinois {Chicago!!} and Indiana! I will meet quite a few bloggers on my trip {you can see who in the post below} and am looking forward to 10 days of travel. It's going to be fun!

I am really excited {and terrified!}. I am doing this. I know it's good for me. But I have never flown alone, and have only been on a plane once since I was 15. I know that's irrational to think that the plane will crash, but we weren't meant to fly. We don't have wings. So thinking of a giant metal thing flying me through the air seems pretty irrational to me. I will be asking for flying tips soon {and may as the doctor for some anti anxiety pills}.

Emmy reminded me of the bean. Can't wait to put my camera to use. I'm going to look like such a tourist. Love it.

9. As I write this, I am uploading files to Funky Playground Designs, because my guest spot begins tomorrow! I can't tell you how excited I am about this. FPD has been one of my favorite stores for {at least} 2 years.

I have quite a few kits coming out tomorrow. Here is a sneak peek at two of them.

8. Last night, Jess and I had a nice "sister night." We went to dinner and walked around a little bit. We haven't spent time together in a while, and I realized that we should do more of that. It was fun! After dinner, we stopped by a little candy shop for a few gummies, and picked up some sugar free candy for Aunt Rose since we were dropping off some dinner for her.

7. Last Sunday when I had lunch with Angela and Kate, they each brought birthday presents for me! So sweet of them.

Kate got me a really cute purple scarf. I am all about scarves this year and was thinking that I'd like a purple one. I haven't taken any pics yet, but want to write a scarf post soon. Speaking of scarves, I am bringing back

Angela gave me this adorable pumpkin cheesecake pan for my birthday. I am SO excited to use it. I have been wanting a pumpkin pan for a few years, but talk myself out of spending the money each year. I think this would be great for Thanksgiving or Halloween. Thank you, Angela! I love it.

6. The weather in LA has been amazing. It is finally feeling like fall. It has been nice and cool, and even a little gloomy. I love it. I was able to wear these last night.


5. The new kitten has officially turned in to the sweetest little love that I've ever met. My other cats are very sweet, but this guy is all about cuddling {something my other cats do not do}. I am at my desk right now and he is snuggled up on my lap.

4. The Rachel Zoe finale airs tomorrow night, but I can watch it whenever I want because I have my own DVR. I love my DVR. I no longer have the pressure of trying to watch Dexter, Bros. & Sisters, Desperate Housewives, and Californication. I can break it up a little bit. And I don't have to worry about missing all my fave shows. Love it.

3. I went out with my mom last week and got a pair of wide leg trouser jeans {on sale!}. Let's hope I can pull them off.

2. In a few hours, I will be heading to a {vintage inspired} Halloween shop with my sis.

1. Along with my big trip next month, I also planned a little something for December. Looks like I'll have to conquer that whole "fear of flying" thing, because I booked a trip to San Antonio to visit Jill!! I am so excited {and of course, I'm a little nervous}. Jill has lots of fun things planned, and even wrote an official itinerary with some very entertaining commentary. I need a copy so I can share it. She even has a surprise Christmas craft ready for us!

I do know that we are making throw pillows with her mom, and doing lots of fun Christmas inspired things. I am especially excited because SA is one of HGTV's top 10 Christmas towns!!

The BIG Trip!

Next month, I will be heading to Nashville to see Amy.

Tippa is going to come up over the weekend to visit. Then, I'll take a little road trip with Tippa over to Memphis, and spend a few days there.

After that, I'm flying from Memphis to Indiana to see Kelsey. I'll spend a few days there with her {we are even taking a day trip to Chicago!} and then I fly back to LA.

I am so excited. And terrified. I hate flying, but I need to do this. I know I'll have a great time, and that it will {hopefully} be very liberating. Can't wait.

I also want to wish my friend Kate a very happy birthday.

Aunt Rose-isms

I love Aunt Rose. She's such a pistol. Doesn't she look fabulous for 91?! And you've gotta love those snazzy purple pants! She's so fierce.

A few weeks ago, we were on the phone having another one of our late night chats. talking about how we have always had a special relationship. Aunt Rose loves all her great nieces but it is no secret to anyone that I am the favorite. Always have been, and always will be. We are both the oldest of 3 girls, so I think she has always felt a connection to me. And then there's the fact that she said this...

"The first born is a miracle. That's the one you make the most fuss over and after that it's just routine." I don't know if this seems funny to anyone else, but if you knew Rose, you'd get it.

To avoid sounding full of myself, I am not usually the favorite. In fact, I may have been my grandma's least favorite.

I think this was really funny, too. Rose asked what I was doing, and I told her I was working while we were talking.

"You do miracle things. You talk to me and you work at the same time. I've never heard of such a thing."

After all, Rose will stay home for the day and not do anything because she is expecting a phone call. So doing 2 things at once actually does astound her.

Aunt Rose always asks how things are going with my "new thing" {aka scrapbook kits}. The idea of what I do completely confuses her. Up until a few months ago, she thought people printed their blogs and put them on the wall at home. When she found out that you have to go to the computer to see a blog, she said that didn't make any sense and wondered why people would spend their money on something that you can only see on the computer. She also thought that because my kits would be "in a store" that I'd be working in a department store.

It took quite a few explanations to clear that one up.

She still has no idea what a blog is, and will say "is that from your internet?" as if it were this elusive thing that only I had access to.

If only I owned the internet...
